If you think our hands are full, you should see our hearts.

At the height of the pandemic, we sought refuge outdoors. The four of us in lockdown, my husband, the girls and me, in our cozy home. We tied a rope swing up on the sturdiest branch of our oak tree. We laced hammocks amongst the redwoods. We watched and waited. We were a bit desperate for a change of scenery and then, all of a sudden, the scenery changed us.

We learned that redwoods, truly the stuff of legends, endure the elements by reaching out and intertwining their roots with other trees; they quite literally hold each other up through flood and fire, whispering to and nurturing each other thru times of hardship. So…we followed suit.

My husband cleared fallen branches, working to make space for the kids to play. The kids “helped”, always eager to make any task into a creative project. They collected wood for daddy and, very quickly, his garage wood working blossomed into a labor of love. Our family shop, LIVandSLOANE was born.
